The Doris Mims Neal Memorial Family Scholarship Fund is designed to help coach and support family members to prepare for and graduate from college.
Two awards will be made in the 2024-2025 academic year:
• One high school senior will receive up to $10,000 per academic year starting Fall 2025 and will be supported by near-peer coaching provided by College Possible Texas through college completion.
• One high school junior will receive up to $10,000 per academic year starting Fall 2026 and will be supported by College Possible Texas near-peer coaching starting with their senior year of high school in the 2025-2026 school year through college completion.
To be eligible, applicants:
1. Must be a Neal or Mims family member, descended from one of the following individuals: Carnegie Mims Sr, Mae Lois Mims, Willis Neal Sr. or Ima Neal
2. Must have current status as either Junior or Senior student in high school
3. Minimum 3.0 GPA
4. Minimum College Entrance Exam Scores: Seniors – 1050 SAT or 20 ACT, Juniors – 920 PSAT
5. Must be a currently enrolled:
• Senior, in the Class of 2025, who will be enrolling in college in the Fall semester of 2025
OR
• Junior, in the Class of 2026, who will be enrolling in college in the Fall semester of 2026
